Hey, I’m Emily!
I’m the founder of Little Learning Co.
I’m a qualified primary teacher (BA Hons, PGCE, NPQEYL) with almost 15 years of experience working in primary education.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with children across the early years and primary age range (3-11) in positions as a one-to-one support, classroom/teaching assistant, and a teacher. In my role as a teacher, I particularly enjoyed leading phonics and reading. I’ve always been especially passionate about helping children develop strong foundations in literacy and maths, as well as the confidence to believe in themselves as learners.
After leaving the classroom, I wanted to create something that brought together the things I love most about teaching: building relationships, nurturing confidence and self-belief and helping children make meaningful progress.
And so, the Little Learning Co. was born.
Based in my purpose-built garden room, I offer personalised tutoring for children aged 4-11, focusing on phonics, reading, spelling, grammar, and all things maths. I also focus specific sessions around SATs preparation; not to add pressure, but to enable all children I work with to feel their most confident when approaching them in the summer term.
My aim is to create a space that doesn’t feel like a traditional classroom. The Little Learning Room is warm, welcoming and relaxed, where children can learn at their own pace, ask questions, make mistakes and celebrate their success.
For me, tutoring isn’t just about improving a child’s reading age or test score. It’s about helping them to leave each session thinking: “I can do this.”

In the classroom…
I loved getting to know every child in my class: their personalities, interests, strengths, challenges and individual ways of learning. Creating a safe, nurturing classroom where children felt happy, supported and confident was always incredibly important to me.
Teaching a class of 30+ children also showed me just how valuable individualised attention can be. I often wished I had more time to give each child the tailored, focused support they needed to truly thrive.
That’s where the idea behind Little Learning Co. began. I wanted to create a space where children could receive personalised support, build confidence and develop a positive relationship with learning — with the time and attention to really get to know them as individuals.
Beyond the classroom…
Since leaving the classroom, I’ve expanded my expertise of children with additional needs and disabilities, whilst working for the Local Authority in respite care.
I’ve also continued to work in primary schools, this time as a supply teacher, to develop my experience working in different settings and age groups with a vast range of needs.
Now, I’ve put everything I've learned so far together and created my own version of a classroom and I can’t wait to get to know my Little Learners.
